Like other statins, it inhibits the enzyme (Hydroxymethylglutaryl coenzyme A) HMG-CoA. It reduces the amount of LDL cholesterol, apolipoprotein B and triglycerides and increases the amount of HDL cholesterol.

Like simvastatin, this medication is used to regulate blood lipids. It is used for the treatment of hyperlipidemia, which includes:

Primary hypercholesterolemia, mixed dyslipidemia and hypertriglyceridemia.

It should not be used in any way: animal or human studies have observed cases of birth defects or the risk of fetal death due to the side effects of taking this medicine during pregnancy. These evidences are obtained through research, market experience or human studies. Therefore, the risk of using this drug during pregnancy definitely exceeds its possible benefits and should not be taken.

– Muscle pain and cramping are two of the common side effects of rosuvastatin. In this situation, see your doctor. Since there is a possibility of a rare but serious muscle complication due to taking rosuvastatin, visiting a doctor for the necessary investigations is essential in case of muscle pain.

– For a possible headache caused by taking this drug, ask your pharmacist about the right painkiller.

– In case of constipation, a proper diet rich in fiber and adequate amount of fluids are effective, and regarding diarrhea, adequate amount of fluids is effective.

– Nausea and indigestion caused by this medicine can be removed by eating light meals and avoiding fatty or spicy foods.

This medicine is available in the form of 5, 10, 20 and 40 mg tablets, the daily dose of which is determined based on your condition by the doctor.

Rosuvastatin Cosar is generally prescribed once a day.

Take Rosuvastatin Cosar at a certain time of the day at your convenience. This medicine does not interfere with food so you can take it before or after the meal. The best time to take the medicine is in the evening.

Your doctor may start the treatment with a low dose of the medication and gradually increases its dosage after which your body gets used to it to reduce the possibility of side effects caused by rosuvastatin.

If you forget a dose of the medicine, take it immediately, though be sure to avoid doubling it in one dose.

– In general, the treatment with this drug is lengthy, so keep in touch with your doctor and perform periodic examinations and tests on a regular basis so that your treatment progress can be evaluated.
